Dr.C. V. Raman Commemorative Stamp

    The Government of India celebrates 'National Science Day' on February 28 every year. There is great reason to celebrate this day as "National Science Day" .

    February 28, 1928 is a historical day in the world of science, On This day Dr.C V Raman succeeded in conducting a research on light scattering, in the field of science Dr.C V Raman's research experiment is called as "Raman Effect". To commemorate such an important day, "National Science Day" is celebrated on February 28 every year. 

    On this day a seminars will be held on Sir C V Raman's contribution to the field of science at all Schools, Colleges and universities across the country. The contribution and importance of the field of 'Science' in human welfare will be explained. Thereby creating a scientific mindset among the students and prompting them to become researchers.

   Dr.C.V Raman receives the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his research experiment "Raman Effect". The great Indian gem who brought home the first Nobel Prize for India. He joined the IISc-Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1934 as Director of the IISc-Indian Institute of Science. C. V. Raman, who founded the "Raman Research Institute" in Bangalore the same year. Today, this institute serves as the most important research institute in physics. 

   Dr.Chandrasekhar Venkataraman  has made a significant contribution to the field of physics in the world, was born in Tiruvannaikaval, near Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu on November 7, 1888, and died in Devanahalli, Bangalore on November 21, 1970 at the age of 82. 

 In recognition of 'Bharat Ratna' Chandrasekhar Venkataraman's contribution, the Indian Postal Department has issued a commemorative stamp and 'Defective Series' stamp and Special Cover on National Science Day.
